According to the series plot, Time, told through the lens of three very different inmates, is a moving and high-stakes portrayal of life inside a women s prison. Arriving at Carlingford Prison on the same day, Kelsey (Ramsey), Orla (Whittaker), and Abi (Lawrance) are thrown together to face an unfamiliar world. But even with the ever-present threat of violence within its walls, they discover that an unexpected sense of community and a shared understanding might still be possible.
The script is written by McGovern, a highly acclaimed writer known for works like Broken, Cracker, and The Street. Helen Black, the writer of the BAFTA-nominated Life and Death in the Warehouse, also contributed to the script. Directed byAndrea Harkin, known for directing The Confessions of Frannie Langton and The Trial of Christine Keeler.
Time season 2 (consisting of three episodes, each with a duration of 60 minutes) is a BBC Studios production created for the BBC, in collaboration with BritBox North America as a co-production. The Liverpool Film Office has provided additional funding and support through its Liverpool City Region Production Fund. BBC Studios will handle the global distribution of the series.
Mark Hedges serves as the producer of the series. The executive producers are Priscilla Parish, Michael Parke, and Andrew Morrissey representing BBC Studios, Lucy Richer representing the BBC, Reemah Sakaan and Stephen Nye representing BritBox North America, and Jimmy McGovern, the creator of the series.
Time Season 2 is scheduled to premiere soon on BBC One and will also be available for streaming on iPlayer.
